It’s that time of year where we’re all feeling a little lethargic and sluggish after the burnout of Christmas, by harnessing the superpower of colour you can instantly change your mood, calm anxiety and even out your skin tone.
Read on to discover the meaning of colour and how this can help you:
Red releases adrenalin and is great if you need an injection of energy, however, I would avoid if you are feeling anxious.
Pink is a great alternative if red is a bit too far out of your comfort zone, it expresses empathy and shows sincerity and affection.
Green creates equilibrium between the head and heart, with its calming energy it’s great if you are feeling overwhelmed as it instils balance and harmony.
Blue is the nation’s favourite colour, and there’s no wonder why. It releases oxytocin giving you that warm, fuzzy feeling of a big hug! With its calming properties, it helps to reduce anxiety.
Yellow is a fun and uplifting colour that makes us happy thinking of the sunshine! It evokes feelings of warmth, positivity and optimism.
It’s easy to fall into wearing black, especially over the winter months but I want to challenge you to push yourself out of your comfort zone, so let’s ditch those gloomy colours and embrace happier shades.
My Top tips for wearing colour:
- Wear your happy colour on your top half as this will reflect on your face and give you a gorgeous glow
- You can start small and incorporate colour through your accessories, think headbands, scarves, hats and jewellery
- Why not give tonal dressing a try, pull together garments in your fave shades of the same (or similar) colour for a super chic look
- For the more adventurous, why not give complimentary colours ago. These are colours that sit opposite each other in the colour wheel and when paired together really pop – think purple and yellow, red and green, and blue and orange. This is a great way to make an entrance!
